New Eyes For Angelo

My main goal for this site is to get an artificial vision system for Angelo. I just can't stand the thought that the last thing Angelo will ever see is his father attacking him.

To that end, I've set up a fund with a goal of $70,000 (the amount discussed in the wired article on artificial sight). I don't know if this is the right number. I hope to discover what the options are and the costs through research and visitor input. If you know anything about this, please post in the forums with that information.

So - what happens if there is no feasible artificial vision system available (or if it's not available right now)? 1 of 2 things: either I set up a trust fund so that when the technology is available, Angelo has the funding to get it done, or the money collected will be put to use for a scholarship for Angelo to college, or a special school for blind children. I need time and input from experts to figure this out, but I needed to get this website up while the story was still in the news in order to have a change to raise substantial contributions.

Do you disagree, or think the money would be better used another way? Post in the forums. This site is intended to be community driven, and all input will be weighed in order to make these decisions.
